- Bhupinder Singh Bhalla is a retired IAS officer of the 1990 batch (AGMUT cadre) with over three decades of service in public administration. He most recently served as Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, overseeing India’s renewable energy agenda. A qualified Cost Accountant and IIM Bangalore alumnus, he has held diverse roles across central ministries and union territories, including as Administrator of Daman & Diu and Economic Counsellor at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC. Bhalla is recognised for his leadership in commerce, industry, and sustainability, and has received honours such as the Today’s Traveller Award and CMA Ratna Award. He retired in September 2024, leaving a legacy of impactful service and contributions to India’s development.
