Rajnish Kumar is a distinguished Indian banker who served as the 25th Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI) from 2017 to 2020, capping a nearly four-decade-long career with the bank. He is credited with steering SBI through a period of financial stress, significantly reducing its NPAs and enhancing digital innovation through the launch of the YONO platform. Kumar also oversaw the integration of SBI’s associate banks and chaired several group entities, including SBI Life, SBI Cards, and SBI Capital Markets. With an M.Sc. in Physics and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, he has since taken on advisory and board roles in prominent companies. His leadership continues to influence India’s banking and financial landscape.
